So our journey with Celebrity Apprentice comes to an end. On this week’s episode (April 5, 2009), both Khloe Kardashian and Tionne were fired. The two firings marked possible one of the most controversial episodes in Apprentice history. The scope of task was to present viral videos for ‘All’ detergent, with the Project Managers being Clint Black and Melissa Rivers. In the end, both teams lost.
So why was Tionne fired from Celebrity Apprentice by Donald Trump?—well for no rational reason actually. T was fired because she volunteered to go into the boardroom with her project manager Melissa Rivers, who believed all her team members did a great job at their assignments. The lesson we were suppose to get from this is to never volunteer. This, a bitter sweet moment, as Tionne won her task last week as Project Manager. Trump noted to Melissa that if Tionne didn’t volunteer, she would have been fired.
In Apprentice Season 2, the same situation happened. Bradford Cohen was fired for waiving his immunity and volunteering. Bradford was coming off a huge win the prior week. Regardless, Tionne was wrongfully let go, and based on headlines and forum responses, many share the same sentiment.
Many will view this as Tionne getting screawed, sure, but think outside of the box—Tionne went out on top. Who looks like a total dick? Donald Trump does. Tionne didn’t fail at any of her responsibilities. She did not go on television to make “good tv,” she went their to work hard and build awareness for Sickle Cell Anemia. At the end of the day, Tionne was fired for not creating drama. The Project Managers of the tasks, Melissa and Clint Black, who both lost their challenges made better television than Tionne and Khloe Kardashian. We’re all proud of T—she conducted herself in a manner that is cohesive with her future aspirations, and that is, to return to the top of the music charts in the future. Now we can get back to business and salivate over the prospects of upcoming solo songs from Tionne.
